Weight Calculation Policy
What is Volumetric Weight?
Volumetric weight refers to the weight converted from the volume of goods, used to measure light but space-occupying cargo. For example, although an item may have a relatively light actual weight, it occupies a larger transportation space and may require billing based on volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is calculated by dividing the volume of the goods (length × width × height) by a specific factor (e.g., 5000 or 6000).
Formula for Calculating Volumetric Weight in Air/Sea Transport
Air Freight Volumetric Weight Standard:
Length (CM) × Width (CM) × Height (CM) ÷ 5000
Sea Freight Volumetric Weight Standard:
Length (CM) × Width (CM) × Height (CM) ÷ 6000
When is Volumetric Weight Used?
ForePax charges based on the higher of the actual weight and volumetric weight.
What is the Minimum Shipping Weight?
For sea freight, the minimum weight per shipment cannot be less than 100 kg. If less than 100 kg, it will be calculated as 100 kg.
For air freight, the minimum weight per shipment cannot be less than 10 kg. If less than 10 kg, it will be calculated as 10 kg.
Rule for Rounding Up Weight
When the weight has decimals, the billing weight is rounded up to the nearest whole number. For example, if the volumetric weight is 252.3 kg and the actual weight is 119.6 kg, the final billing weight will be 253 kg.
Additional Fees for Oversized Items
For items with the longest side exceeding 100 CM (including 100 CM), an oversized fee of 450 RMB per item will be charged.
For items with the longest side exceeding 200 CM (including 200 CM), an oversized fee of 800 RMB per item will be charged.
For items with the longest side exceeding 300 CM (including 300 CM), additional fees will be charged based on the specific circumstances due to handling difficulty, such as requiring special equipment or replacements.
Note: Oversized items may require unpacking, special containers, dismantling, or lifting equipment. Additional costs for assistance at the destination will be borne by the customer. We seek your understanding.
